Hierarchical porous carbon was prepared using soybean hulls as precursors. Porous carbon shows a high specific surface area of 1232 m2 g−1. The S/porous carbon cathode has an initial capacity of 1231 mAh g−1 at 0.5C. The Coulombic efficiency is high and stable over 200 cycles.
