Coupling survey data with drift model results suggests that local spawning is important for Calanus finmarchicus production in the Barents Sea

Modelled drift trajectories are coupled to observations of Calanus finmarchicus. Spawning locations of copepodites in the Norwegian Sea/Barents Sea are estimated. Copepodites in the eastern Barents Sea are likely spawned on the Barents Sea shelf. Results indicate local production and potentially overwintering in the Barents Sea.
