Hydraulic modelling of oil spill through submerged orifices in damaged ship hulls

Oil-spill dynamics through submerged holes of oil tankers is examined. Novel solutions for uni- and bidirectional hydraulically driven flows are proposed. Experimental results are used to verify different oil-spill models. Oil outflow discharge coefficients are related to flow separation and mixing. Genetic algorithm is used to determine head losses and density changes in double-hull tankers.
