Lithium-cobalt manganese spinels can be fluorinated at 800 °C. Fluorine is incorporated on vacant anionic sites. Fluorination improves the phase purity of the lithium-cobalt-manganese spinel. The cycling stability and capacity is improved for fluorinated electrode materials.
