Numerical study of dynamic response of a jet diffusion flame to standing waves in a longitudinal tube

The interaction between a jet diffusion flame and standing waves in a tube is studied. Propane jet and flame characteristics are highly sensitive to its axial location. Flow reversal and mushroom-shaped flame are observed. Flame transfer function is determined with acoustic frequency and amplitude varied. A new applicable way to model and characterize flame-acoustics interaction is presented.
