A SMES/battery HESS is proposed to be used in a residential mCHP system. A novel size-based droop control is developed and tested. Battery lifetime production method is introduced. Extension of battery lifetime in the HESS is quantified. A hardware in loop circuit is developed coupling with RTDS to verify the HESS design.
