Effect of the maternal thermal environment on sunflower fruit dormancy was investigated. Higher temperatures during late fruit development increased dormancy after harvest. This was related to stronger coat imposed-dormancy and embryo sensitivity to ABA. This information is useful for sunflower hybrid seed production.
