Cortical development differs between ASD and typical development in adolescence. These are primarily differences in the development of cortical surface area. In most regions surface area decreases for controls, not for individuals with ASD. After stringent multiple testing correction, this pattern held for three regions. The development of cortical surface area is relevant to ASD during adolescence.
