They help define a Paleoproterozoic polar wander path for the Slave craton.

They indicate that plate tectonic processes operated in the Paleoproterozoic.

Slave and Superior cratons drifted on separate tectonic plates.

Slave and Siberian cratons may have been near neighbours at 1.88 Ga.
