文摘
To prepare KMgCl3 different methods have been attempted such as wet chemical synthesis (WCS), solid state diffusion (SSD) and centrifuge (CS) methods. XRDs of the sample prepared by these three methods have been placed at the same position, phase and matched well with standard data. The particle size of 20 nm of KMgCl3 by centrifuged method was detected using TEM. KMgCl3: Cu or Mn showed improved photoluminescence (PL) which may be used as efficient lamp phosphors. Ultraviolet photo-excited luminescence from Cu-doped halophosphor has been investigated. PL emission spectra of KMgCl3: Cu+ has been observed at 357 nm due to 3d94s ↔ 3d1° transition. photoluminescence of KMgCl3: Mn2+ synthesized by WCS and SSD route is placed in yellow region (576 nm) where as orange region shifting (593 nm) is observed by centrifuge route for an excitation of 380 nm due to 4F9/2→ 6H15/2 and 6H13/2 transition. Shifting of peak positions and intensity may be due to nano particle size of the KMgCl3 host. X-ray diffraction and PL characterization of phosphors has been reported in this article. The article discusses the luminescence of Cu+ and the simple method of incorporation in various new hosts. Our accentuation is not only on the characterization of the samples but the method of synthesis of the phosphors by simple routes also. All the synthesis routes are easy, worked at low temperature, low cost and least hazardous and eco friendly.
