Calculated isothermal section of Mg-Sn-Y correlates well with experimental results. Solidification behavior of Mg-1Sn-xY and Mg-3Sn-xY are analyzed. Formation of MgSnY phase above liquidus temperature was experimentally identified. Mg-Sn-Y vertical section phase diagram were constructed using thermal analysis results. Theoretical and experimental vertical section phase diagrams were compared.
