Students’ skipping behavior on truancy items and (school) subjects and its relation to test performance in PISA 2012

Most students who choose not to attend a class, select PE lessons for skipping.

Truancy is a multidimensional behavior, i.e. students carefully select the subjects to skip.

Skipping lessons is related to lower achievement in the PISA test for mathematics, German and science.

Omitting items measuring truancy is also associated with lower achievement in the PISA test.
