Modeling of triangular-shaped substrates for light trapping in microcrystalline silicon solar cells

Triangular grating as a light trapping structure in µc-Si:H solar cell was optimized by optical simulation.

The Jsc of µc-Si:H cell, as high as 27.0 mA/cm2, was achieved on optimized triangular substrate with a 1-µm thick µc-Si:H.

Carrier generation rate distribution in µc-Si:H absorber was analyzed in detail.

Key optical losses in the µc-Si:H solar cells were identified and discussed.
