Development of an MPC controller for an electrified engine-cooling system. Formulation of the optimal-control problem as a quadratic program. Comparison of the MPC controller to dynamic programming and a base-line controller. The MPC controller reduces fuel consumption by 0.36–0.69%. The MPC controller is implemented and successfully tested on a real truck.
