The procedure begins with a cystourethroscopy and catheterization of the utricle with a Fogharty or a cystoscope, that is left inside the prostatic utricle to facilitate subsequent identification and mobilization during the procedure. Laparoscopy was conducted via a 10 mm port inserted through an umbilical incision. Two more 5 mm working ports were inserted at the right and left mid-abdomen. Resection of the utricle is done by electric monopolar cautery hook.
In all five boys resection was satisfactory except in one case that needed open conversion due to bleeding. Mean operative time was 165 min (120-240).
Laparoscopic resection is a minimally invasive approach and cystocopy offers a good help and safe dissection of the utricule.
