Experimental and analytical study of galloping of a slender tower

Full-scale and wind tunnel experiments are conducted to study wind-induced vibration of a type of slender tower. An analytical model is formulated based on the experiments to study the galloping onset of the slender tower. The coupling of galloping in two orthogonal directions is evaluated. The dependence of galloping onset wind speed on damping is evaluated. The dependence of galloping onset on wind speed shear is evaluated.
