A large crack was found in a diagonal member of an existing steel truss bridge. The crack initiated and propagated to the length of 200 mm as a fatigue crack. The quality of material and weld satisfies the requirement for them. The vibration was induced by the wind in two velocity ranges. These wind-induced vibrations are thought to be the main cause of the crack.
