Sewage dumping increases the level of anthropogenic pollutants in the coral reefs. Bacterial species classified as human pathogens were dominant in sites exposed to untreated sewage discharge. The microbial diversity of less-disturbed sites was more homogeneous and diverse. This information can be used in marine and human health assessment.
