A live-cell imaging system was developed for visualizing dsRNA in vivo.

It uses dsRNA binding proteins fused with two halves of a fluorescent protein.

Binding to a common dsRNA enables the reporter to become fluorescent.

The system can efficiently monitor viral RNA replication in living cells.
