Higher accumulation of benzylisoquinoline alkaloid metabolites in resistant potato genotypes. WRKY8 transcriptionally regulates the BIA pathway in potato. Polymorphism in WRKY DNA domain affects gene function in susceptible genotype. Luciferase transient expression assay confirmed the interaction of WRKY8 with the promoters of BIA biosynthetic genes.
