Energy transfer and colour tunability in UV light induced Tm3 +/Tb3 +/Eu3 +: ZnB glasses generating white light emission

ZnB :Tm3 ++ Tb3 + + Eu3 + glasses were prepared by melt quench method. Energy transfer from Tm3 + → Tb3 +, Eu3 + is explained from Forster-Dexter theory. Energy transfer channels in Tm3 + → Tb3 +, Eu3 + are Tm3 +:1G4 → Tb3 +:5D4, Tm3 +:1D2, 1G4 → Eu3 +:5D1,0 & Tb3 +:5D3,4 → Eu3 +:5D1,0. White light emission is achieved by altering concentrations of Tb3 +/Eu3 + to Tm3 +: ZnB glass.
