Type I collagen with intact triple helical structure from porcine skin was extracted.
TiO2 nanometer sol was prepared by sol–gel method with distilled water and a little amount of ethanol as reaction medium.
Nanocomposite scaffold was prepared by freeze drying the mixture of type I collagen and PVP wrapped nano-TiO2 particles, that the procedure was without any cross-linker or toxic reagents to generate porosity.
Interaction by hydrogen bonds between PVP, TiO2 and collagen was analyzed and discussed.
Hydrogen-bondings have been found to be the main actor to enhance stability of this ternary nanocomposite.
