Sensing characteristics of FBG sensor embedded in CFRP are investigated. Surface bonded FBGs are included as measurement references of embedded one. Temperature responses of embedded FBG show high linearity and repeatability. Embedded FBG can monitor local strains induced by different loading positions. Impact responses of embedded FBG show same frequency but lower amplitudes.
