A complementary DNA expression library was screened to identify immunoreactive proteins of Babesia ovis.
The cDNA clone designated as BoSA2 was identified by immunoscreening of a cDNA library. The sequence of the BoSA2 was inserted into the expression vector and then expressed in Escherichia coli as a glutathione S-transferase fusion protein.
Immunoreactivity of the purified recombinant fusion protein (rBoSA2) was evaluated by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
The results demonstrated that the rBoSA2 protein might be useful for serological study for Babesia ovis infection in sheep.
