Reaction of tert-butylanilide anions with benzyl bromide gives O-benzyl imidates. Reaction of tert-butylanilide anions with methyl iodide gives N-methyl anilides. O-Benzyl imidates are used as a benzylation reagent of alcohols and carboxylic acids.
