Fe-Cr mixed oxides were synthesized using citric acid as fuels by solid thermal decomposition reaction. The samples were characterized by BET, XRD and TPR. These analyses showed that the addition of chromium compounds not only increased the BET surface area of the mixed oxides, but also affected the phase composition of iron oxide in the product. Using Fe-Cr mixed oxides as supports, the platinum catalysts were prepared. The catalysts were tested in the aqueous-phase reforming of 10wt % ethylene glycol solutions and results showed that the rate of hydrogen production was promoted with the addition of chromium compounds at certain contents.
