Cold-modeling airflow and industrial-size experiments were performed for three MBEL down-fired boilers. Flow-field deflection, asymmetric combustion, NOx emissions, and slagging status varied greatly among them. An appropriate parameter setup was recommended for new designs of MBEL down-fired boilers.
