A new neutral radical was synthesized from a zwitterionic radical via radical oxidation ring-opening reaction under mild conditions. The zwitterionic radical displays interesting magnetic behavior, and it also possesses higher conductivity. The neutral radical exhibits unusual twice magnetic phase transition behaviors, including a high ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic phase transition temperature (ca. 382 K), which can be attributed to the anisotropic contraction and non-uniform slippage of columnar stacking chain and the changes of close intermolecular contacts. These unique magnetic behaviors ascribe to their different stacking structures.
