For Al–10%Mg2Si alloy, corrosion initiates in (Al + Mg2Si) binary eutectic zones. Corrosion pits propagates along the interface between eutectic Mg2Si and α-Al. The transformation of eutectic Mg2Si enhances the corrosion resistance of Al–10%Mg2Si.
