Silica-back-coated Ni foam is fabricated using a facile ultrasonic method. Back-coated silica absorbs polysulfides because of the porous Ni foam. Suppresses dissolution of polysulfides and maintains low viscosity of electrolyte. Silica-back-coated Ni foam shows high initial specific capacity of 1341 mA h g−1. It also shows high capacity retention of 85% after 150 cycles.
