Efficient UV-vis-infrared light-driven catalytic abatement of benzene on amorphous manganese oxide supported on anatase TiO2 nanosheet with dominant {001} facets promoted by a photothermocatalytic synergetic effect

Nanocomposite of manganese oxide/TiO2 nanosheet with dominant {001} facets is prepared. The nanocomposite exhibits excellent catalytic activity with UV–vis-IR or infrared irradiation. The nanocomposite formation leads to the catalytic activity of TiO2 enhanced by 99 times. We find a synergetic effect between solar-light-driven thermocatalysis and photocatalysis. We provide a physical insight in the synergetic effect.
