Hydrophobic and π-π interactions are the dominated adsorption mechanism of CBZ on biochar. The fast adsorption of CBZ is attributed to the loose carbon and minerals of biochar. The slow adsorption of CBZ is attributed to the condensed carbon of biochar. The hydrogen bonds between CBZ and –OH on minerals are likely the fast adsorption mechanism.
