The continental basalts show Pb isotope compositions similar to Indian MORB. Three crustal components are identified by linking the Pb isotopes to other geochemical variables. The crustal assimilation is distinguished from the source mixing for basalt petrogenesis. The depleted MORB mantle is of the Indian type rather than the Pacific type. The Indian mantle is present beneath eastern China continent in the Cenozoic.
