A TEMPO-oxidized straw cellulose/yttrium oxide (Y2O3-SC) was obtained in this work. Plate count method was used to investigate the antibacterial activity of the Y2O3-SC. The Y2O3-SC exhibited good antibacterial activities to both E. coli and S. aureus. Holes played an important role in the Y2O3-SC antibacterial system.
