Digital image processing method can be used for the recognition and characterization of spatial pattern in field-measured ambient gamma dose equivalent rate. Anomalies in the measured gamma dose rates could be identified and numerically characterized in the study area. Main spatial features are influenced by the underlying geological conditions and surface sediment distribution. Results can be used for geogenic radiation mapping.
