3D transient heat transfer numerical model for multiple energy piles is developed on the basis of finite volume method (FVM). The effects of fluid flow rate and shank spacing on heat transfer efficiency owing to “thermal short-circulating” are investigated. U-tube shank spacing should be set in a range of 0.06 m to 0.10 m in this study. The fluid flow rate should be controlled in a range of 0.5 m3/h to 0.7 m3/h in this case.
