Two novel designs of piezoelectric vibration-driven locomotion systems are proposed. Bistability is utilized in locomotion systems for the first time. Bistability induces wider working frequency band and multiple locomotion modes. Prototype experiments verify the predicted locomotion performance enhancement. Basin stability is evaluated to provide guidelines for system design and control.
