Colorimetric detection of Hg2+ by HAuCl4 reduced by H2O2 using gold nanoclusters as catalyst was developed. The sensing system is that the AuNPs were straightly used to detect Hg2+ without modification. The sensing system exhibited selective and sensitive of Hg2+ ions.
