HgS nanostructures with PVP or HDT as stabilizing/capping agent were synthesized. We only obtained alpha and beta HgS phase when using HDT as capping agent. Nanostructures were deposited onto glass substrates by the spin coating technique. HDT-capped structures yielded higher covered area, less agglomerated depositions.
