A concise biomimetic total synthesis of incarvilleatone and incarviditone is achieved in one pot via the highly stereoselective hetero- and homodimerization of (卤)-rengyolone, respectively. The structure of incarviditone is revised on the basis of spectroscopic and computational evidence.
