Reaction of[CpTi(-H)]₂(-hars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >⁵:hars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >⁵-C₁₀H₈)withCO₂ (3 atm) leads to the formation of thebis(formato)complex[CpTi(-hars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >¹-(O)CHO)]₂(C₁₀H₈)(1). Complex 1contains monodentate bridging formate ligands. Thedifference between vibrational frequencieshars/nu.gif" BORDER=0 >_as(CO₂) andhars/nu.gif" BORDER=0 >_s(CO₂) is 455cm^-1, the largest ever observed foramonodentate formate ligand.
