CoH₂P₂O₇ and NiH₂P₂O₇, which contain edge-sharing zigzagoctahedral chains, were hydrothermally synthesized and structurallycharacterized. Both compounds exhibit field-induced metamagneticbehavior because of the strong intrachain ferromagnetic andrelatively weak interchain antiferromagnetic interactions.
