The reactivity of cis-{PtII(Ar)(2-butyne)} fragments in cationic complexes is described. Coordination of the unsaturated ligand is observed at low temperature. Upon increasing at 298 K, a cascade of reactions affords a selective formation of indenes. Mechanistic implications of this domino-reaction are discussed.
