In order to run a peracid oxidation on multikilogram scale ina pilot plant facility with an acceptable level of risk, an extensivestudy of the thermal characteristics of the reaction, reactants,and quench was undertaken. A number of features wereengineered into the process in order to confidently run theprocess without the potential for a thermal or pressure excursion on scale.
