Hübel's tris(ethynylbenzene)hexacarbonyldicobalt complex, (PhCes/entities/tbd1.gif">CH)₃Co₂(CO)₆, a byproduct in cobaltacyclopentadiene formation, has been characterized by spectroscopic methodsand a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The organic ligand, derived from the ester[(1,2,3,4,5-es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >)-2,5-diphenylcyclopenta-2,4-dienyl][(2-es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >)(3-es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >:3-es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >)]-2H-3-phenylpropynoate, formsa es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >¹:es/gifchars/eta.gif" BORDER=0 >²-bridge between the two cobalt atoms linked by a "semibridging" carbonyl.
