BackgroundElectrolyte abnormalities, particularly dysnatremia, are independent predictors of adverse outcome in individuals with and without renal failure. However, the association of serum chloride level (Cl−) with mortality or risk of cardiovascular (CV) events in chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains unclear.
