Groundwater samples, collected into the deep underground facilities of Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics during the period from July 2008 to November 2014, were analyzed for 226Ra and uranium isotopes (234U, 235U, 238U) by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry, and for searching possible relations between the spatial–temporal patterns of these observables and the seismic activity of the central Italy. This research activity has, firstly, clarified several aspects of the local hydrogeological background and highlighted a specific dynamics with respect to seismic activity.
