The aim of this paper is to identify and develop the structural cause and effect relationship among the various quality enabled factors that affect the facility layout design stage of production system life cycle. In the paper, nine factors are identified from literature survey and experts’ opinion and then these are validated by questionnaire survey. Then, interpretive structural modelling approach is utilized to obtain the structural relationship among these factors of facility layout design stage. This developed structural model not only provides a complete structural relationship among the various factors but also provides the direction to the manufacturing managers for designing and implementing appropriate policies in order to have efficient facility layout design. Moreover, classification of factors has been carried out on the basis of dependence and driving power with the help of MICMAC analysis in order to find the key factors of facility layout design stage.
