In this paper, two criteria were applied to identify the bronze vessels of Jin State: first, the state's name the clan's name or location shown in the inscription on the bronze vessels and second, the location where the bronze vessels were unearthed. Accordingly, 96 pieces of Jin State inscribed bronze vessels were found. Then, from the contents of the inscription, the shape of the vessels, the decorative carvings on the vessels and the condition of the unearthed items etc., the age of the Jin State inscribed bronze vessels was estimated. As revealed from the research, most of the Jin State inscribed bronze vessels aged from the mid & late West Zhou to the Spring & Autumn Periods.;The daily life of Jin State people in the context of "worship", "wedding", "hunting" and "granting of benefices" were investigated with reference to both the description in ancient archives and the inscription on the Jin State bronze vessels. Moreover, from the contents of the Jin State inscription and the unearthed bronze inscription of other states in Shanxi Province, communications between Jin State and other states were discussed.;The usage of words and phrases in Jin State inscription had its own characteristic. Some of these words and phrases could only be found in Jin State inscription. In this paper, detailed analysis was done on words and phrases considered to be of significance. Based on the shape of the characters, 1330 Jin State inscription were recognizable. In order to trace the changes of Jin State inscription, these 1330 characters we re compared to the same characters of different states in the Zhou dynasty.;The present study on Jin State inscription not only enables us to establish standard bronze vessels of Jin State, but also provides useful supplements to the ancient archives in the aspects of the Jin rulers' genealogy, the daily life of Jin State people, and communications of Jin State with other states. Furthermore, we can understand the characteristics of the characters and words in the Jin State inscription.
