Hydrocarbon qualitative source rock evaluation is an important work for judge research area oil/gas exploration potential. Qualitative analysis of hydrocarbon source rock indicated high abundance of organic matter, well type, low maturity. Oil generating threshold in this area has been studied by geochemical index. Considering oil generating threshold is 1 600 m in Binbei area of Songliao Basin, 400 m deeper than predecessors. Due to hydrocarbon source rocks burial relatively shallower in Binbei area, this understanding must make considerable reduction the amount of hydrocarbon generating and expulsion. Correspondingly, the main source rock generated hydrocarbon has been postponed from the end of K₁n sedimentation to the end of K₁ms sedimentation.
